About

The objective of this contract is to support the execution and delivery of the Water Resilience Challenge 2024 by providing comprehensive project management services, from planning to implementation and reporting. Specifically, the contractor shall:

  • Facilitate and manage capacity-building activities that equip the youth with the skills required to implement innovative water solutions designed by participants during the Water Resilience Challenge 2023.
  • Strengthen open communication for peer-to-peer knowledge sharing amongst the youth, water professionals and practitioners from different UNESCO-designated sites, ensuring that the best practices are disseminated and applied.
  • Coordinate and manage stakeholder engagement, amplifying youth participation and representation in water governance discussions at local, regional, and global levels.
  • Amplifying youth participation and representation in the upcoming 10th World Water Forum in Bali, Indonesia, May 2024.
Process

Outputs
The expected outputs of the activities are:

  • A detailed project plan for the Water Resilience Challenge 2024, which includes a timeline, milestones, allocated resources, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Prototypes, posters, promotional materials and/or other types of technical materials as the result of participants’ water solution implementation; and showcase them during the 10th World Water Forum in Bali, Indonesia, May 2024.
  • Documentation evidencing the successful implementation of capacity-building initiatives, peer-to-peer knowledge sharing between youth and water professionals and practitioners from different and UNESCO-designated sites, such as training materials, attendance records, short video and post-training evaluations.
  • A comprehensive final report summarizing:
  1. The activities undertaken in line with the project plan and contract period;
  2. Profile of participating teams;
  3. Highlights and significant achievements;
  4. Participation of the winning team(s) of the Water Resilience Challenge 2024 during the 10th World Water Forum.
  5. Activities
  • Under the authority of Director of UNESCO Jakarta, the Contractor shall be responsible for arranging and implementing the UNESCO Water Resilience Challenge 2024 in Southeast Asia. To this end, the Contractor shall, but not limited to, perform the following tasks:
  • Pre-event 1) Develop the UNESCO Water Resilience Challenge 2024 programme. The tasks include developing the challenge detailed planning, such as the programme’s schedule, workshop objectives and agenda, proposed mentors/experts for mentoring sessions, and selected judges for final selection.
  • Event 1) Organize online workshops and mentoring sessions. The tasks include:
  • i. Arrange technical meetings with participants, speakers, experts, and judges on the detailed planning of the UNESCO Water Resilience Challenge 2024.
  • ii. Organize mentoring sessions with the water experts and practitioners to assist the participants in refining their water solution designs.
  • iii. Conduct an online midterm evaluation of participants’ work progress.
  • Support and facilitate the participants in implementing their innovative water solution designs in the selected sites. The tasks include:
  • i. Assist participants in preparing to test out their ideas in the selected UNESCO-designated sites.
  • ii. Facilitate the participants’ engagement with experts and relevant stakeholders involved during the activity implementation in the UNESCO-designated sites.
  • iii. Monitor the participants’ activity design and its implementation progress including the site visit result and development of tangible materials of the design process, e.g., prototypes, posters, and promotional materials.
  • Organize a virtual peer-to-peer dialogue for learning and knowledge exchanges among the participants.
  • Promote the UNESCO Water Resilience Challenge 2024 through online and offline platforms. The tasks include preparing visibility materials for the event and disseminating them through social media and other media. Ensure the visibility and proper placement of organisation logos in publications, such as banners, flyers, social media feeds, articles, and reports related to the implementation of these activities. Submit the promotional materials to UNESCO for approval before the dissemination.
  • ** Post-event **
  • Workshop and design evaluation. The tasks include: i. Provide the participant with necessary assistance in preparing their prototype and related materials to showcase in the 10th World Water Forum.
  • Communicate regularly the process, progress and results of the participants’ designs, progress, and outputs on social media and other possible platforms.
  • Organize an online event for the winner announcement, formulating a judging panel for the designs that include UNESCO and the National Organizing Committee of the 10th World Water Forum as part of the panellists.
  • Facilitate the participation of winning team(s) to the 10th World Water Forum in Bali, May 2024. The tasks include:
  • Coordinate with UNESCO Jakarta to showcase the outputs of the activity during the 10th World Water Forum. ii. Provide participants with travel and accommodation support to attend the 10th World Water Forum.
